Who Am I?My name is Daniel Hackney, and I am a 5th year student at the University of Cincinnati working towards my Master's of Science in Computer Science through an accelerated degree program (ACCEND) offered by my university. My interests include game design, AI, VR, and full-stack software development. I have tutored high school students in math and science and have previously held positions as the Membership Chair and Secretary of ACM@UC.
Before starting my degree at UC, I went to a very small public high school that didn't offer any CS courses or clubs; however, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about computers and software through independent study and practice. I have always had a profound interest in math but discovered programming on my own during junior high school. I took three college-credit programming courses during my junior and senior years of high school to further my education on the subject area.
My college experience has been a wonderful eye-opener for me, as I have taken advantage of many new opportunities I did not have prior. I've been involved with ACM@UC since my Freshmen year, have been modeling and coding an online game, and have organized/attended multiple hackathons. My co-op experiences have been instrumental for me and have allowed me to envision a satisfying future career in programming.
